Adidas Men’s Rockadia Trail Running Shoe Review

With its chunky soul and bold styling, there is no denying that this trail running shoe from Adidas is designed to tackle the roughest of terrains. With the famous three stripe logo on the side we know it comes from a manufacturer renowned for quality sportswear, and we are about to find out whether it is worthy of the brand or not.

Adidas Men’s Rockadia Trail Running Shoe

As the name suggests, this sports footwear is designed for running on all surfaces including those which may not be flat and smooth, including trails, wooded areas and rugged terrain. This Adidas running shoe was first sold in 2015 and there are several color and trim options to choose from.

Who is this product for?

With the word ‘Men’ in the product title, it is not hard to work out that these are primarily designed for male runners. Having said that, there is no rule to say that a female runner could not use these if they fitted properly, although there is a female-specific Rockadia running shoe which will probably be more appropriate.Although they could be used for just about any type of running, they are primarily designed for those runners who like to go off-road. What we mean by that are underfoot surfaces which tend to be more of a challenge such as country trails, rocky areas, and rough terrains.

What’s included?

This is simple to explain, in the sense that included in the box are a pair of Adidas Rockadia trail running shoes and the laces.

Overview of features

The Adidas Rockadia trail running shoe has a tough, but lightweight upper with a mesh construction. This combination of features mean it protects your foot, allows for better movement, and stops your feet from overheating. The tongue is cushioned, so you have even more protection for the front of your foot, and to protect the sole of your foot you have a foam insole. This also reduces the impact on the base of your foot as each stride lands, plus it proves the arches of your feet with additional support. As you run, you can do so in a surefooted manner, thanks to the chunky grip pattern on the sole. This provides excellent traction whether conditions underfoot are wet or dry and is especially effective as you tackle upward or downward inclines.

How to use them

The first thing to consider is sizing. The advice Adidas give with these trail running shoes depends whether you like your running shoes to feel tight or if you prefer a bit more movement within the shoe. If tight, they suggest you go for half a size lower than normal, and if loose is your preference, go for half a size higher than normal.Another good piece of advice is in relation to when your first receive your running shoes. Before you go for your first trail run, it makes sense to wear your running shoes around your home if possible. Although running shoes don’t normally need breaking in, in the same way some shoes do, it’s best to loosen any stiff areas at home, rather than out on the trail, where you have no option but to grin and bear any discomfort or pain. When wearing these, or indeed any running shoe, always ensure the laces are tied correctly, and any excess lengths are tucked down the side of your foot or under the tongue. This reduces the risk of them causing you to trip, which out on a country trail can be more dangerous than a similar fall just around the corner from your home.

What We Like

  • Excellent underfoot tread
  • Durable materials
  • Breathable upper

What We Don’t Like

  • Sizing is too small
  • May not suit those with small arches

Conclusion

When you go trail running you want to do so in the knowledge that the footwear you have on can provide the best possible grip underfoot, as well as offering the best protection for your foot. The Adidas Men’s Rockadia Trail Running Shoe does both admirably, while at the same time being flexible enough to allow you to take each step comfortably. We mentioned in the intro the question of whether the Rockadias lived up to the three stripes. They do so with a 10 out of 10 performance.
